Recipe: Pumpkin Pie

Wilma Heinks grew up in Clara City and graduated from high school at Sacred Heart. She has lived in Princeton since 1960. Her late husband Harm also grew up in Clara City. recipe wilma heinks

Wilma is retired from working in food service at South Elementary, where she worked for 28 years.

Wilma enjoys cooking, baking, and crafts, including needlework.

Years ago she did a lot of gardening and fishing. She said she and Harm would fish in Canada three times per year.

Last week Wilma was helping in the Immanuel Church project of making pumpkin and apple pies to sell. She offers a pumpkin pie recipe.

 

PUMPKIN PIE

Make or have a ready-made, unbaked crust set in pie pan.

1 tsp. cinnamon, 

1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. ginger

1/4 tsp. nutmeg

1/4 tsp. cloves

1 cup milk

1 cup sugar

2 cups pumpkin puree

 

Mix ingredients together, place in crust and bake in 350-degree oven one hour.

Option: For a no-crust pie, just mix 1/2 cup Bisquick in with the ingredients and pour into baking tin and bake the same as for the regular pie crust type pie. Clara likes using a glass dish for the no-crust version.
