Carol Smithers

Carol Joan Smithers, age 80 of Northeast Minneapolis passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 at the Elim Home in Princeton.
Carol was born January 5, 1933, the daughter of John and Edna (Finney) Dahlen. Carol was a generous and compassionate individual with a great sense of humor; always quick and witty. She knew the true meaning of unconditional love and was a free spirited person who would spontaneously take the grandkids on trips. She was very supportive of her family; especially of the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Carol also would host the family reunions at her lake home on Lake Irene located in Miltona; in which her sons had built for her. Carol enjoyed word searches, crossword puzzles and jig saw puzzles. For many years after her father passed, Carol helped maintain the family business her father founded. She will be missed by many.
Survivors include children Michael (Cathy) Smithers of Princeton, Mark Smithers of Princeton, Douglas (Kim) Smithers of Elk River, Jamie Smithers of Princeton, and Leonard (Kathy) Smithers of Lino Lakes, 18 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren with the greatly anticipated arrival of the 28th great-grandchild in May.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas, daughter Monica and siblings Jeanine and Waldo.
Funeral services will be held at Christ Our Light Catholic Parish?North, Princeton, MN at 11 a.m. on Monday Dec. 23.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services on Monday at the church in Princeton.
Private interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
