Marvin Smerer

Marvin J. Smerer, age 82 of Princeton and formerly of Nevis and East Grand Forks, died Friday at the Veterans administration Medical Center in St. Cloud.
Marvin was born March 18, 1931 in Sarles, N.D. to James & Mary (Jarvis) Smerer. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He married Ramona Springer in 1958, they were later divorced. He taught seventh grade industrial arts at East Grand Forks Jr. High School from 1959-1990. After his retirement he moved to Nevis where he enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, attending farm auctions, finding collectables and antiques. He also enjoyed agate hunting. He was a member of the East Grand Forks American Legion.
Survivors include his children Murray (Gayle) of Ashland, Wis.; Joe (Kelly) of Oslo; Jim (Linda) of Princeton; Maureen of White Bear Lake; brother John of Spokane, Wash.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Pat and Everett; sisters Patsy, Martha, and Henrietta and one grandson.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Princeton. Friends and relatives may call one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home in Princeton.
