A year later they moved to North Minneapolis and in 1951 settled in South Minneapolis. They had five children.
Mildred worked with Floyd at the family-owned business, Bloomington Cleaners; at Homestead Nursing Home; and at Augustana Nursing Home until they moved to Princeton where they built their retirement home on a lot left to them by her father. There she worked at the Elim Nursing Home and was an active and long-time member of the Cambridge Seventh-day Adventist Church.
In May 2003, Mildred and Floyd moved to South Grove Square Apartments in Grove City, and in August Mildred moved into Emmanuel Nursing Home in Litchfield where she lived until her death.
