Three champs lead Tigers to 2nd at Husky Invite

Three Tigers won their weights to lead Princeton wrestling to second place at the Dec. 14 Andover Husky Invitational. Glencoe-Silver Lake-Lester Prairie scored 197.5 points to win the tourney, with the Tigers totaling 170 points among the 11 teams competing.

Freshman Tim Bialka, ranked 6th at Class AA 132, went 3-0 to take first at 138 lbs. at Andover. Bialka began with two pins before defeating Centennial’s Matheson 10-4 in the finals.

Cole Warren at 220 and Eric Elsner at 285 both began with byes, then went 2-0 to also win titles at the invite.

• The Tigers also went 1-2 in dual meets over a five-day stretch. In a home Mississippi 8 dual, they lost at home to Class AAA 6th-ranked Cambridge-Isanti 60-6.

At the Dec. 17 Mille Lacs Triangular, Princeton defeated the host Raiders 57-18, then Milaca slipped past  the Tigers 35-34 in the annual grudge match between the rivals.

Tiger senior Wyatt Ross held for an 8-4 decision against Cambridge-Isanti, then he placed 3rd at 182 by going 3-1 at Saturday’s invitational.
