Princeton went 3-for-5 on the power play while defeating visiting Little Falls 8-1 in a Jan. 4 battle between the former conference partners. Collin Buness finished with the hat trick against the Flyers and added two assists for a five-point night.
Goals by A.J. Wesloh, Billy Oakes and Buness had the Tigers out to a 3-0 lead in the first period where they out-shot the Flyers 14-0. Jake Green and Ryan Bolduc scored in the second period, along with two Buness goals, as the advantage grew to 7-0. Joey Stenslie finished the night with a third-period goal for Princeton, and Max Mattson was called on for just 11 saves. Tyler McAlpine led the team with two assists.
• On Jan. 3, the Tigers received hat tricks from McAlpine and Brody Johnson in a 16-0 non-conference win over visiting Pine City-Rush City. Cam Paulson, Chase Wark and Derek Abrahamson all netted two goals against the Dragons.
