Princeton boys basketball paid back Zimmerman for a two-point loss the second game of this season by downing the host Thunder 95-78 Jan. 9.

Jack Sinkel ripped the nets for 36 points to go with 11 rebounds, and Caleb Scharber scored 25 against Zimmerman. Backing those two were Brady Peterson (15 points, 6 rebounds), Aaron Embertson (6, 4 rebounds) and Eric Norman (4).

Mississippi 8 battles

Battling the legs on back-back game nights, Princeton fell to host Cambridge-Isanti 78-70 on Jan. 10. The Tigers made it a game after getting down by 24 points in the second half.

The Tigers used three ‘3’s’ and a handful of layups to go on an 18-4 run over a six-minute stretch, cutting the deficit down to 75-70 with 1:23 to play before Cambridge-Isanti held for the conference win.Sinkel finished with 25 points, and Peterson scored 15 of his 21 points in the second half while leading with 10 rebounds. Scharber (13 points, 5 assists) and Tanner Kinney (5 points) were next in Tiger scoring.

• On Jan. 13 at SCSU’s Hallenbeck Hall, Buffalo defeated Princeton 94-75. Sinkel again led the Tigers with 30 points (8 ‘3s’), with Peterson scoring  20 and Scharber 10. Kinney and Reed Mitchell added five points each.

The Tigers’ busy stretch continued with a 74-70 loss to Chisago Lakes Jan. 14.
