Esther Burroughs

Esther M. Burroughs, age 100, passed away on January 15, 2014 at the Elim Home in Princeton.
Esther was born March 23, 1913 in Zimmerman to John and Ellen (Nyquist) Magney.
She graduated from Elk River High School and attended Gustavus Adolphus College for one year. She married James Burroughs on September 19, 1932.
Esther worked her earlier years as a waitress, then as a bookkeeper for 20 years at Duffy?s Hardware, 20 years for Dr. Alfred Kapsner then at Kapsner Drug, and many years at Princetons Off-Sale Liquor Store. Esther enjoyed embroidery, reading, puzzles, and baking for her grandkids.
Esther is survived by her children Mary Jean Olson, James A. Burroughs, Robert Burroughs and Steven Burroughs; ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Burroughs and an infant daughter, grandparents, parents, four sisters, one brother.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Princeton.
Friends and relatives may call from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at the church in Princeton.
Interment will be in Bellwood Cemetery in Zimmerman.
