Harry Moorlag

Harry Moorlag, age 92 of Milaca, died Jan. 1, 2014 at the Elim Home in Milaca. He had the peace and assurance that he would see his family again some day in eternity.
Harry Moorlag was born on September 25, 1921 to Henry and Hattie (Nype) Moorlag on the family farm in Bogus Brook Township. He attended country school through eighth grade.
At age 21 he entered the Army and served three years at the Panama Canal. After an honorable discharge, he married Christine Kok on Dec. 12, 1945 at the Pease Christian Reformed Church. They resided in Pease and Bock before purchasing their farm in Milo Township in 1950. They farmed until an aneurysm forced him to give up farming in 1973.
During Harrys lifetime he worked on the farm and also at the Pease Feed Mill, Willard Grow Feed in Princeton, Ratzlaff Logging and Lumber in Princeton, and as a part time driver for the D.A.C. in Milaca.
Harry was a life-long member of the Christian Reformed Church in Pease.
He has always enjoyed music; singing duets with his mother, playing guitar, and singing in quartets and the choir are just a few. Two weeks before he died, he was singing in the Elim Home Christmas choir.
He also enjoyed cane pole fishing, bowling, playing Skip Bo and bingo. He especially liked spending time and playing games with his grandchildren.
After nearly four years living in the Elim Home in Milaca, he went to be with his Lord at the age of 92 years, 3 months and 1 week.
He is survived by daughters Sandy (Jack) Wiechertjes of Holland, Mich., Karlinda (Garry) Moes of Greer, S.C., Sharry (Terry) Kragt of Pease and Rhonda (Will Haske) Moorlag of Milaca; 13 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; sisters-in-law Esther Moorlag in Calif., Sadie (Ray) Tellinghuisen of Princeton; Adeline (Bernard) Nobel of Milaca; Helen Kok of Milaca; brother-in-law John (Irene) Kok of Milaca; also by many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Christine in 2006, parents, brother Dewey, and brother-in-law Andrew Kok.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease with Pastor Michael Ten Haken officiating.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday evening at the church and one hour before the service.
