Ice girls blank Novas 3-0

Kara Schramel stopped all 34 shots she faced when the Princeton girls hockey squad shut out host Minneapolis Novas 3-0 Jan. 11.

Erica Schramel scored on the Princeton’s first power play in the first period, then her goal 3:40 into the second had the Tigers leading 2-0. Larkin Walter added the insurance goal with less than three minutes remaining in the game.

• On Jan. 10, the Tigers dropped a 5-1 conference game to host Rogers. North Wright County then stayed near the top of the Mississippi 8 with a 3-0 win over Princeton Jan. 13.

Knights top  Tiger boys

Visiting St. Michael-Albertville scored three goals over a short span in the first period, then held on to defeat Princeton 4-3 in Mississippi 8 boys hockey action Jan. 11.

The Tigers’ Tyler McAlpine scored the game’s first goal before the Knights took control of the scoreboard in the first stanza. Jake Green netted a power play goal in the second, and Silas Reek’s goal had Princeton close with 3 1/2 minutes to play when the Tigers kept the pressure on the Knights’ net. Max Mattson had 30 saves for the Tigers against St. Michael.
