Richard Minks

Richard Paul Minks, age 84 of Princeton, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014 at the Elim Nursing Home in Princeton.
Richard Minks was born May 22, 1929 to Adolph and Antonia Minks in Bogus Brook Township. He was the surprise baby following his siblings (Adolph, Annie, Walter, Edward, Albert, Esther and Lydia) by more than seven years. In his early years, he attended school and helped his father and brother Ed on the farm. He would continue there for 44 more years, many of which were with his own son.
During this time he met Suzan Bekius at the county fair and the two became inseparable. On March 2, 1951 they were wed at the First Baptist Church in Milaca. The happy couple went on to purchase the farm from the family, raise their three children and allow their six grandchildren to enjoy countless memories helping Grandpa.
After selling the cattle, he went on to work in the Princeton School District as a janitor and retired after over a decade of service.
Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to classic country music and never came across a baked good or confectionary he didnt love.
He is survived by his daughter Jeanne Swenson; son-in-law Jeffery Wellman, son Steven Minks; grandchildren Lisa, Craig, Lori, Cory and Michael; as well as nine great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his wife Suzan, daughter Cynthia, daughter-in-law Joan, son-in-law Robert, granddaughter Tracy and seven siblings.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 20 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Princeton. Visitation will begin a half hour prior to service.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Princeton.
