Ruth McKenzie

Ruth McKenzie, age 84 of St. Cloud, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2013 at the Talahi Care Center in St. Cloud.
Ruth was born August 27, 1929 in Edgerton to Simon and Anna (Schaap) Sas. She married Donald Otkin in December, 1950. They later divorced, she then married William McKenzie.
Ruth was a nurses aide at Milaca Elim Home for many years, she also worked at St. Benedicts Center. Ruth was a first class baker with a specialty in pies. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening, spending time with family and keeping an immaculate home. Ruths greatest joy was her family – especially her grandchildren. She cherished time with them.
She will be remembered for her great sense of humor and always looking her best.
Survivors include her children Esther (Elton) Stanchfield of Princeton, Shirley Otkin of Princeton, Karen (Lonnie) Kornovich of Clear Lake, Lee (Tim Larsen) Otkin of Milaca, Donald (Denise) Otkin of LaValle, Wis.; brother John (Ruth) Sas of Edgerton and brother-in-law Richard Blom of Edgerton; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and two step- great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband William McKenzie; sister Hildred Blom; and former husband Donald Otkin.
A private family service was held on Saturday, Feb. 1 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids. Burial was at North Star Cemetery in St. Cloud.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Talahi Care Center and St. Croix Hospice, especially Jared, for the wonderful care they provided Ruth.
