Chisago Lakes tips Tigers for 5A Hockey crown

PLAYOFF UPDATES: Chisago Lakes made a late two-goal lead stand when it defeated Princeton 5-4 in the Section 5A Boys Hockey championship inside a packed Isanti Arena Feb. 27. The Wildcats earned their first State berth since 1995, while the Tigers were searching for their first State trip since 2003.

Collin Buness scored twice for the Tigers, with Cam Paulson netting the team’s first goal and A.J. Wesloh scoring a late power-play goal.

The Wildcats next play in the Class A quarterfinals Wednesday, March 5 at the Xcel Center (seeding to be completed on Saturday).

Princeton Girls Basketball battling for home game

The Princeton girls basketball is currently in the No. 4 position for the upcoming Section 7AAA playoffs. The Tigers have a Feb. 28 game at Buffalo and wrap up the regular season with a March 1 home game vs. Becker where victories would help secure a home playoff game for the March 7 quarterfinals.

On Feb. 25, Princeton defeated Zimmerman 67-54, then the Tigers fell to St. Francis 67-62 in a Feb. 26 make-up game.
