Tiger Girls reach 5A hockey semifinals

WEEKEND SPORTS UPDATES: Princeton owned a 3-0 lead deep into the second period and went on to defeat No. 3 seed Orono 3-2 when the Section 5A girls hockey tournament began Feb. 6 at the Parade Ice Garden in Minneapolis.

The Tigers (14-10-1) will next take on No. 2 seed Breck (11-14-1) in the Tuesday, Feb. 11 semifinals, 7:30 p.m. back at the Parade Ice Garden. The Mustangs opened the tourney with a 6-0 win over Minneapolis. Playing in the early Feb. 11 semis are No. 1 seed Blake (18-7-1) and No. 4 Mound-Westonka (16-8-2).

 WRESTLING: Princeton 38, Becker 22 • No. 4 Tigers (9-11) will take on No. 5 North Branch (1-14) in Section 7AA Team Wrestling tourney opening round, 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11 at Chisago Lakes.  The winner will face No. 1 seed Milaca (20-9) at 7 p.m. Tuesday night in quarterfinals.
