Tiger wrestlers open playoffs Feb. 11

Princeton wrestling will have one more tune-up match at Becker Feb. 6 before the Section 7AA Team tournament gets underway Feb. 11 at Chisago Lake H.S.

In the 7AA South half of the brackets, the Tigers are possibly looking at a No. 4 seed behind Milaca, Chisago Lakes and Mora. With the seeding still to be set, Princeton could open against North Branch at 5 p.m. Winners of the opening matches will get another match at 7 p.m. against the top two seeds.

The two surviving teams from the south will join the top two teams from the north at the Feb. 14 7AA semis and finals at Cloquet.

• Tim Bialka went 3-0 to win the 132 lb. brackets when the first Mississippi 8 Individual tournament was held Jan. 31 at Monticello. Bialka (28-2) began the tourney with a fall and a 4-3 decision before pinning North Branch’s Johnson late in the championship match.

Placing second for Princeton were Billy McClay at 170 and Wyatt Ross at 182.

Also earning All-Conference for the Tigers in the tourney was Jake Pramann who placed third at 160.
