The eighth-grade girls basketball team of the Princeton Youth Basketball Association ended its season on an eight-game winning streak by winning the Class 1A State tournament at Columbia Heights High School last weekend.

On Saturday Princeton beat Rogers 31-28 and Orono 43-32. On Sunday the team beat No. 1 seed Prior Lake 40-35, and then won the title by beating Albany– a team it lost to earlier in the season by double digits– by a 31-26 score after trailing 9-2 early. Princeton was seeded No. 7 among the 16 teams.

The previous weekend Princeton won a St. Cloud tournament by defeating Orono 29-26, beating Robbinsdale Armstrong (a team it lost to decisively earlier this season) by a 44-36 score; and then defeating Chanhassen in overtime 35-34.
