Athletes from nine different school districts showed their energy at the Region 7 DAPE track & field day (Developmental Adapted Physical Education), hosted on a decent May 2 around the Princeton H.S. track. Princeton student Katey had a group of fans running on the side with her during the 100-meter dash (left), one of 10 events at the meet. Princeton DAPE instructor JoAnn Moats was extremely pleased at the turnout, and she was gracious for the help Tiger track coach Sarah Clemons and members of the Tiger varsity and JV track teams provided on the day.
Kirk Ringey, a PHS track member who measured the shot put at the meet, said, “I really like this. It’s been a lot of fun, just cheering them on and seeing how happy and excited they are.”
Joshua Malley helped with the softball toss in the morning. “This was just a wonderful experience– just being able to see the sheer joy in the kids’ faces. To be able to witness how much these kids can benefit from and add to the world of athletics were some of the most precious moments that will stay in my memory for a very long time,” he spoke.
