Princeton Baseball was seeded in the No. 12 slot for this week’s opening rounds of the Section 7AAA Tournament. The Tigers (4-14) will travel to No. 5 Anoka (13-6) on Monday, May 26 for a 4:30 p.m. play-in game. The winner will enter the eight-team double-elimination format for the tourney which begins May 29, while the loser’s season comes to an end.
The top four seeds in the tourney get byes for the opening round: #1 St. Francis (16-2), #2 Chisago Lakes (14-4), #3 Elk River (13-7) and #4 Duluth East. St. Francis will get the lowest surviving team out of Monday’s game for the Friday quarterfinals (7 p.m.).
• In Section 7AAA Softball, No. 12 seed Princeton was defeated by No. 5 St. Francis 10-0 in the May 20 opening round. After pile of games on Saturday, May 24 at Andover, the surviving teams in the winners’ brackets are #1 Anoka and #3 Elk River. Alive in the consolation brackets are #2 Forest Lake and #5 St. Francis. The tourney gets back into games May 28 and May 29 at Chisago Lakes (3:30 p.m. start on Wednesday & Thursday).
