Baldwin ends public forums

The Baldwin Township Board at its May 22 meeting passed a motion in a 3-2 vote to eliminate the public forum at its business meetings. The board replaced the forum with a setup in which someone wishing to speak during a  meeting, fills out a form with the name and nature of request and the board decides where to place the person on the agenda to speak. A time limit of three minutes is allowed per person. Chairman Jay Swanson, Larry Handshoe and Randy Atwood voted for it and Jeff Holm and Tom Rush voted no.
