Princeton Police Report: Week of July 10

The following reports were made to the Princeton Police Department June 30–July 7, 2014. The listed times are when the reports were filed and not necessarily when incidents/events occurred. Compiled by Joel Stottrup.

 

Monday, June 30

4:52 a.m. Report of female possibly jumping in traffic on 300 block of 11th Avenue S. Located juvenile female who stated she and a couple friends were practicing gymnastics near roadway. Advised to stay in friend’s driveway and out of roadway.

4 p.m. Located juvenile runaway for another officer and spoke to subject about better decision making. Other officer arrived and took custody.

5:58 p.m. Arrested and cited male, 52, for theft of items totaling nearly $10 at Coborn’s. 8:08 p.m. Employee of Neighbors Eatery & Saloon reported hit-and-run damage estimated at about $1,000 to front bumper of her vehicle on June 28.

8:25 p.m. Recovered vehicle and returned to owner.

 

Tuesday, July 1

1:51 a.m. Report of suspicious activity involving two males walking around neighborhood in area of 2141 75th Ave. in rural Princeton. Police located described vehicle that had extremely loud exhaust and talked to two males who stated they were headed to a girlfriend’s house. Officer advised they park closer to the home and repair exhaust system.

8:50 a.m. Theft of electricity at residence reported.

1:15 p.m. Subject going door to door selling cleaning supplies. Officer advised subject to leave town or get a city vendor’s license. Subject stated he is part of a large group selling door to door in other cities “and there may be others.”

3:17 p.m. Subject left the Family Pathways thrift store with movies. Manager did not want to pursue charges and instead trespassed subject. Subject transported to hospital for evaluation.

6:59 p.m. Warned driver about loud exhaust and cited for not possessing driver’s license.

7:17 p.m. Juvenile reported receiving harassing phone calls. Number shows it was from the city of Monrovia in Liberia. Advised complainant that it was likely part of a scam and she should not answer the calls.

 

Wednesday, July 2

1:08 p.m. Report of theft of ring and fraudulent use of credit/debit cards.

5:25 p.m. Spoke with person about property-damage motor vehicle crash that occurred in parking lot of the hospital on July 1.

6:52 p.m. Report of juveniles on roof of North Elementary. Upon arrival several juveniles had already climbed off and had left on skateboards. Checked area and was unable to locate.

7:18 p.m. Complainant wanted to report theft of motor vehicle on May 26. Vehicle since recovered and returned to owner.

7:36 p.m. Man reported losing black wallet with ID and birth certificate and his blue Android cell phone. Last places he had been to (city liquor store and McDonald’s) were contacted and wallet not located there.

8:12 p.m. Public assist/possible theft.

9:15 p.m. Missing black purse. Unknown if lost in Princeton or Elk River. Recommended subject contact bank about missing banking information.

9:19 p.m. Missing black iPhone valued at $600 and was last seen at Mark Park. Subject tried using a tracking app to locate.

Thursday, July 3

6:48 p.m. Responded to disturbance and mediated.

9:46 p.m. The south Casey’s station reported a gas drive-off with $72 loss.

9:52 p.m. Disturbance – mediated situation.

10:39 p.m. Noise complaint regarding fireworks west of 1216 14th Ave. N.

 

Friday, July 4

1:24 a.m. Assisted with fatal crash in Isanti County.

1:36 a.m. Arrested Mark Dale Shelley, 22, of Elk River, on suspicion of fourth degree DWI and cited. Booked and released to sober driver.

5:16 a.m. Request to remove unwanted person from home. Police said male was intoxicated and trying to fight with homeowner and that the male pulled part of a window screen off the home. Arrested male, 22, for disorderly conduct.

1:07 p.m. Theft reported at residence.

9:11 p.m. Stopped driver for driving without headlights. Long form complaint to be made for no Minnesota driver’s license, expired registration, and no proof of insurance. Vehicle towed.

 

Saturday, July 5

2:03 a.m. Called to Neighbors for “large bar fight.” Arrested and cited male, 37, for disorderly conduct.

3:12 a.m. Suspicious activity at 308 Rum River Dr. Arrested two males, 24, and 31, on drug charges and giving false name to police officer.

5 a.m. Spoke with a male riding a bicycle that was involved in an issue at the Holiday station. Bicycle did not belong to him. Placed bike at police station for safe keeping and sent male on his way.

 

Sunday, July 6

7:04 p.m. Motor vehicle theft. Vehicle recovered by Anoka County on July 7 and suspect arrested.

9:36 p.m. Report of burglary in progress. Investigation revealed no indication of a break-in. Consent search conducted and firearm seized. Police dog located marijuana inside residence. Officer said a long form complaint would be made against a male, 53, at the residence for felony reckless discharge of a firearm. Subject had been reported to have “shot at someone” prior to arrival of officers.

 

Monday, July 7

1:44 p.m. Disturbance, report of possible domestic. Male gone upon arrival.

2:45 p.m. Two-vehicle collision with no injury at Highway 95 and 75th Avenue.

9:18 p.m. Woman reported losing her purse after involvement in a bar fight. She reported the purse was valued at $50 and contained $300 worth of meds.
