Woman severely injured in Santiago house fire

On Monday, Aug. 25 at approximately 3:31 p.m., deputies from the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential fire at 16098 57th Street SE in Santiago Township.

According to Sheriff Joel Brott, deputies arrived on scene to find the home on fire with flames exiting the roof.  Linda Bentley, 61, and her husband Terry Bentley, 62, had escaped the residence, but Linda Bentley suffered severe burns across her body.  She and Terry were treated on scene by Centra Care Ambulance.  Linda Bentley was eventually transported by air to HCMC where she remains in the ICU burn unit.  Terry was treated and released at the scene.

Becker, Big Lake and Clear Lake fire departments fought the fire.  The home was a total loss.

The fire remains under investigation by the Criminal Investigation unit of the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office and the state Fire Marshall.
